Item description for Sword: * New and Improved * (Bibleman Powersource) by Thomas Nelson...
How can kids become strong in the Lord's mighty power? Have them read Ephesians chapter six, where St. Paul lists his famous armor inventory. At the very end, he reminds us to "take the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God." This toy Bibleman sword is the perfect way to turn everyday role-playing games into Bible reminders to help kids live a life of faith.

Reviews - What do customers think about Sword: * New and Improved * (Bibleman Powersource)?
 | Battery holder needs MAJOR redesign Oct 9, 2008 |
I bought this at Lifeway recently for my son's birthday. It took literally 20 minutes to put batteries in it and see it work, and it has a very difficult battery holder to open; you really have to pry it off with your fingernails.
It's hit or miss whether it works when you push the button. I don't think the battery holder is designed well at all. It doesn't seem to push the batteries together well enough. I "fixed" my sword by grabbing my soldering iron and adding a bit of solder to the positive contact of the holder where two batteries are put into a chain, though obviously you shouldn't have to do this.
It only says one thing too "The Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God". I was hoping for some of the great bible verses Bibleman says, but I guess that's for my son to memorize! The sword also vibrates when you push the button. One more thing, you have to HOLD the button for the sword to say everything, you can't just push the button once. This IS a good thing for parents who hear enough toys during the day!
Bottom line, if you just want the sword, your kid will love it, but if you expect the noise/battery functionality to work directly out of the box, I'd pass on this one.
**Update**
The battery holder has now broken where you screw it in, rendering the toy dangerous and useless. | | | Write your own review about Sword: * New and Improved * (Bibleman Powersource)
